Description
Positively Cleveland, the Greater Cleveland Convention and Visitors Bureau, was looking to design a new look for the CLE+ Official Visitors Guide. The guide is a 74-page publication that includes member listings of museums, restaurants, stores, businesses, events and more in the greater Cleveland region. The new look would be used for future publications of the guide. This was the first issue that would be managed by the staff at Positively Cleveland. Previously, the Official Visitors Guide was managed by a publications company.
Positively Cleveland created a team to work on the Official Visitors Guide which consisted of a publications manager, a creative director and writers. I was brought in to complete design and production of the guide. The Creative Director, Darren Hardy, worked on site with the staff at Positively Cleveland on divider spreads for each section and he created a sample spread with member listings. I carried the approved design throughout the guide. I placed all of the listings, and designed spreads and sidebars based on the branded look. I also completed all of the production work for the guide.
The 2008 Spring/Summer issue of the CLE+ Official Visitors Guide included large colorful photos of people enjoying the Cleveland restaurants, attractions and entertainment. The cover featured Cleveland chef, Micheal Symon, who recently won the Iron Chef on FoodNetwork prior to the printing of this issue.
Positively Cleveland was so impressed with this publication that they said it was the best publication to date. It also won the OACVB Middy Award, First Place for Group Travel & Meeting Planner.
